Gosky Titan Monocular Product Review

Gosky Titan 12X50 High Power Prism Monocular and Quick Smartphone Holder

Nothing caught more people’s attention than the monocular I bought for the trip! I was walking around the deck peering through it and taking pictures, and every time I turned around someone was asking, “What do you have there?” Before the Alaskan cruise I was pursuing amazon for the “essentials” and came across this find. I was initially drawn to it because of the price (which it is $15 cheaper now compared to when I bought it, so you should jump on it!).  I bought it for around $50, and I thought that was a good deal considering I could take pictures of what I saw. We already had a conventional pair of binoculars too, so it was nice to switch it up. I knew I was going with a big group as well, and a lot of them would not have their own binoculars. Having the smartphone attachment allowed a lot of us to look at the sights together on the iPhone screen which was really neat and family friendly. It can also be used without the phone attached too. Overall I would recommend it for sightseeing, but I probably would not purchase it instead of a good pair of binoculars. Few things:

  1. Having a tripod stand is super helpful (not sold with the monocular). It is somewhat difficult to hold the camera phone and monocular together. At such high zoom, any tiny movement can move the picture out of frame.

  2. Don’t be afraid to take videos with it! That was one of my favorite features. Like I mentioned before, the “perfect picture” was somewhat difficult to capture, so having a ton of frames to choose from was nice in the videos.

  3. You can always zoom in on the actual picture you take for even more detail. I found I didn’t need to do this often actually because the zoom was really significant on its own. It was almost too much at times because as we were cruising we were fairly close to the landscapes. It was nice to have that option though!

The short of it? It is a good product that I am glad I had for this vacation as well as the upcoming Yellowstone, Glacier, and Canada trip. I would recommend! If you have any specific questions feel free to ask, and comment below any “essentials” you pack on trips!
